Hey guys, just saw this on ebay and was wondering if this is legit, or did someone just stick an Edison label on this? The drawers just don't seem right since there doesn't seem to be any markings where the pegs should be..

I don't think this is legit. It looks like 2 small chests of drawers butted together. The decal looks new. There is no real place to rest the machine. Also, I don't think it is a store display.

If it is super cheap and can actually function, it is a cute way to store a display a Standard or a Gem.

It didn't look like an original Edison piece to me, but what do I know. Everyday I come on here and see something I've never seen before.

It could have been a cool piece if they did make something like this to accommodate Edison machines.

It looks to me to be an old bedroom chest, with the lower side being where the owner would have kept a pitcher and bowl set for washing up--not that uncommon back in the day in homes without indoor plumbing. There may have been a mirror on the back of the lower part originally. So in short looks to me like an old piece of common furniture somebody stuck a decal on.

eBay Item #
131440656881 Just in case anyone wanted to see more pictures. It looks like a few people pulled their bids since it's back down to 1.

To me, it looks home-made out of junky scrap wood.

I believe that this could well be an authentic cylinder cabinet. It looks very much like a Herzog No. 818 cabinet (two sections for records with the right hand section lower than the left section allowing a small phonograph to be held at a convenient height). I don't believe that this example was made by Herzog since it does not look like oak, but it is the same general style. It looks like it was refinished and the decal was probably added at that time. The proof would be in the sizes of the drawers. If twenty cylinders in boxes fit in each drawer with no wasted space, then I would say it is a genuine original cylinder cabinet.

Cheap, pine wood dresser... no cylinder cabinet would have those finials hanging down for no purpose...
