I've loved this record for a decade or so. I recently upgraded my V+ copy (which sounded quite decent, being a laminated Viva-tonal) and made new transfers of it.

This is a Phil Napoleon-led small NY-based group which recorded three records for Columbia in 1929-30 (I have the other two in UK pressings; I think they may have sold more copies of them there!). The musicians are: Phil Napoleon-t/Carl Loffler-tb/Pete Pumiglio-cl-as/Chauncey Gray-p/Tommy Felline-g/Ward Lay-sb/Stan King-d

Red Hot Chicago (Col 2175-D; 150154-3; NY, 4/9/30; v. Roy Evans)

Chinnin' and Chattin' With May (Col 2175-D; 150155-3; NY, 4/9/30; v. Ed Kirkeby)

Red Hot Chicago is a great tune! The other was good too.

The sound quality is terrific. I haven't heard these guys before, thanks for posting.
