The link might just show a banjo but the text listed an Edison and here are some pix the poster sent...

(I should warn all: I'm a newbie and this may not even be a DX!)

Hi schlick,

It certainly looks like a D-X to me. It even has the hold down screws for the bed plate. This suggests that it could be relatively unmolested.

Do you know the asking price?

Best,
Fran

Looks just like my DX, just better shape (mine was missing the hold down screws).

What would the value of such a machine be?

I am not sure it is unmolested. The gear cover looks much nicer than the bedplate and the Edison decal is odd looking to me.

It does have the often missing coupler for the horn and reproducer.

I contacted the seller and he said he's asking $550. That's seems pretty expensive to me, is it?

That does seem high in my humble opinion. I have about $400 into mine, and for the record, I don't think I could sell it for that.

Mine is in a bit better condition than the OP's (and perfect mechanically), but my cabinet does have some minor veneer condition issues.

Phonogfp created a post with some pictures of my D-X alongside his VIII here: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... erola+vIII (Photos courtesy George F. Paul)

Hi folks,

I was just looking back at the OP pictures and the one with the full view of the top does concern me a bit; the top piece of veneered plywood looks like it has been replaced. For comparison, on mine, this piece was essentially held in place with brads, some glue (poor job at the factory) and varnish. I needed to glue it back into place because it had separated during shipping, that top piece comes off fairly easily.
