The etched "EDISON" on the glass (hard to see, look at the enlarged photos on the listing) is definitely unexpected.
I'm not a fan of the London models. The wood is definitely cheaper stock than previous models and the speed control is entirely below the bedplate. For $100 as a Diamond Disc starter it's fine, but personally, I'd go with a Sheraton or Chippendale instead.

If there are some terrific titles among the records, presuming they go with the console, this might be a good buy. Otherwise, without the left side grille to reflect the right side, this console just doesn't look good.

I'm betting there was a pleated curtain behind the glass, perhaps a matching color to the screen over the horn. That would show up the Edison etching and help the two sides to match. Actually that would be quite stunning. My Pooley cabinet has pleated curtains covering the records and mechanism.

A friend of mine says that those are the machines that he has found most of his electric diamond disks in!

Very odd:
I do not know why the grille over the storage area was replaced with glass, or when; the 'escutcheon' or decoration above the doors is certainly not original; and I don't think the knobs are original. The records themselves might have been interesting, if we knew what the selections were....
But the auction seems to have been ended with no bids: perhaps some local offered cash...
