I picked up this Electric Credenza cabinet at auction on Saturday for $5, it's been gutted, put on casters, fitted with more modern components, and gutted again. Not sure where the victrola logo on the lid went either.

Essentially, I'm asking, what should I do with this? Is it something to part out? keep together? strip some parts and let the repurposers have their way with it? If anybody wants it as is, I can get it to Sioux Falls and Minneapolis/St. Paul no problem, otherwise, Denver area, Omaha, Des Moines could be worked out for gas and time.

I didn't get a picture of the sides, but the left side is in need of refinishing, veneer is intact, but it has that sun-damaged look to it.

It's too bad this is far gone, but for $5.00, it's still good. I'd take off the doors, lid, hardware and whatever trim that can be salvaged. Then I would put the carcass on the curb with a Free sign on it. If the machine was restoreable, I wouldn't think of such a thing.

I would have to agree with Harvey. To go with your thread heading and to be somewhat funny......it has already left.... .

Fill it up with bottles of hootch and then invite the neighbors over until you / they are all too far gone.

That guy that's trying to restore that Credenza with the tooled leather front might be interested in the doors for the molding at the bottom.

About as worthless as jigsaw puzzle with some of the pieces missing

but seriously, anything metal is of value.

I've been hanging onto an empty Credenza cabinet (in somewhat better condition) that I plan to make into a matching record cabinet to go with my complete Credenza. This wouldn't require more than basic woodworking skills to do, and I've been stocking albums to go into it. The empty cabinet cost me $1.00, so it's not like I've sunk a fortune into this.

I actually am missing a piece of trim on my Credenza! I would love if I could buy a certain part of that trim on the lower part of the middle left door. And I might be interested in those lid dampers, one of mine is missing the metal canister that holds the mechanism (and the replacements I got are gold, not the darker color I wanted)

As for the rest, I would clean the cabinet as much as possible, after parting out some valuable parts, and display it, possibly using it for record storage. It's still a beautiful piece and it would be a great display.

Alright, sounds like some people need to fix up their machines. Parts it is! I'll post this in the selling/trading section.

I almost bought a Credenza cabinet once with dreams of mounting an Edison cylinder works inside, preferably one of the early Amberolas with the moving mandrel. Someday...
