Does This Sale Seem Like A Shill...???

Here is a repeater that sold for what I thought was a record breaking (pardon the pun) price of $327.00.

Now, it is re-listed because the winner could not pay. That winner bid so many times I lost count. However, the under bidder was only $10 lower. Ebay allows the seller to offer the under bidder if there is a default.

So, why re-list..???. For $10...???.

Seems a little strange to me... :?.

Can you "repeat" that. I watched it ---thought of bidding, but then it just got a bit crazy. So you think the auction will repeat itself again?

I was following this. I couldn't believe how high this went. I'm curious to see how this round will go.

Another item has popped up with a buy-it-now price of $346.50.
Hoping to capture some frenzied runner-up money? :clover:

If you don't question the impossible consistency of those certain sellers who always have multiple bidders, more bids than anyone else and the highest conceivable prices, then why question this auction? If only because the item was relisted? I've had buyers back out and then tried unsuccessfully to use that second chance option with the underbidder myself... There also used to be some scamming in that respect, which I think may have turned some people off regarding post-sale offers, as would the possibility that the underbidder was just bid up by a shill.

That seems like an awful lot for a repeater, even in great condition, but it only takes two.

Seems to me like the seller might have had friends bidding just to jack up the price. At the end nobody bid higher than them and that might be why he didn't sell it to the runner up bid! His friend. Very common on eBay.

Interesting comments above. I'm not suggesting the listing is fraudulent or deceptive. I just find it unusual that the seller did not make a legit "second chance" offer to the under bidder or even the next one below that (although a lot less)...??.

As most of us know, there are potential ramifications in re-listing under these types of circumstances. It can shy many bidders away. Especially the ones that were participants in the first auction.

In Actuality, this is now the third time it's listed.... :?. During the first listing, the bidders were cancelled.

Another great way to *iss off bidders. Maybe third time the charm...???.

The seller wrote he gave up selling on Ebay for awhile because of the BS from bidders....OK.... :?

Oh well, I just thought it strange. What do I know away.. .

perhaps the BS from bidders that drove him to give up on ebay for a while was that they weren't willing to (over)pay him enough.

I agree with Wayne... something is suspicious about this "auction" and certainly looks like possible shill bidding... I copied the bid results, in particular the proxy bids and put them into a single image since there were so many bids mainly by two people. Look at the results and see what you think...
