The Talk-Back company made both vertical and lateral recording attachments. Yours is obviously designed to make lateral recordings. They probably sold pre-grooved blank disks of some type of plastic, just as Victor once did. I think your odds of finding a pre-grooved blank is unlikely, but I think some could be made. Acetate blanks are available, and it should be possible to find a consumer-grade disk recorder made in the 1940's before wire and tape recorders came along.

So in a pre-grooved blank, are the grooves recut to shape, or are new grooves cut whilst using the original ones as guides?

I know I could get a Rekocut or some other, but... acoustic. Need I say more?

Can you post more pics of your item...??. Showing it all together would be nice. There were many outfits like these for home recording for a number of years.

The trademark close-up gives a rough idea of what it looks like assembled.

Here is a RCA vinyl record that you could record your own voice. It shows a R-93 table to play back through your radio.
"Use your RCA home recording needle" it states.
I have never played this. I should listen to what the personal message is. It better not be "Mary had a little Lamb" or I'm breaking it.... I'm sure the NBC message is something like...."Listen to the Shadow every night on our station. Remember... the Shadow knows!!"....

Duh!!!. I never even noticed that in the image. I was more focused on that great Parrot.

I have now recorded both sides of this record and will post it in "Music" for all to hear. Talk about a ghost from the past....

You can find these RCA Victor blanks from time to time on e-bay.

From what I understand people could record from the radio into these as well, reminds me of a VCR.
