Edison Standard Model A new style info needed???

Hello everyone, I was lucky to get this Edison Standard Phonograph on Friday of last week at a reasonable price, it came with a big aftermarket horn (I'm going to add some pictures of the horn so you can give me a little more info about it, is the one by itself on the last pictures). The machine itself looked pretty good just needing some TLC you know! motor cleaning, regreasing, cabinet waxing, bed plate cleaning, etc (very happy with the end result). I'm not quite sure about the year and model of this machine it looks like a Model A new style and an early one 1901 or something close to it just look at the pictures and let me know what do you think, all information you can provide is welcome (the reproducer Model C looks to be an early one as well).

Your machine is indeed a Standard Model A, and judging by the carriage, 1901/1902 would be a good estimate. If you provide the serial number, I can tell you the approximate month it left the factory.
Your large horn is a product of the Tea Tray Company, a prominent manufacturer of aftermarket and original equipment horns for Edison.

Looks like a very clean example of a great machine. About all I see that you need is part of the shaver. You are missing the knife portion of the shaver. There's a reason that the Standards and Homes were such huge sellers. They were great workhorses that gave people good value for their money. I believe those two models represented nearly 90% of total sales. Congratulations! Jerry Blais

Very nice looking machine, I really like these new case A's that still carry the early carriage. It's just something a little different from the other A's.
Since yours came with a large horn are there any marks on the case to indicate what type of horn crane may have been used.

It may have used a free-standing floor type crane.
Very nice example of the early New Style model A. What makes them especially neat are all the details left over from the Squaretop machines (ie: carrier arm, gear guard, endgate, etc.). Thanks for showing it to us!

Edison Standard No.43998 left the factory about December 1901.
