I was walking around the flea market this afternoon and found a morning glory horn that was missing the cone and it was just the bell. I asked the fellow who owned it how much he wanted for it and he said he wanted $30. So it followed me home. It's an 11 panel morning glory horn possibly a TeaTray Co horn? It needs a good repaint for sure on the inside and maybe the outside because there might be rust under the paint judging on the texture and appearance. Reproduction cones for morning glory horns cost $10 from Wyatt's Musical Americana. So did I do alright or was I out of my mind to purchase this horn?

I don't see how you can lose! You will find the rest of it or if not, another collector will need it and buy it from you or they will trade you for it and you will get something you need.

The bell of the morning glory horn I bought today is about the same size as the bell of an Edison Home morning glory horn. Here they are side by side:

The "butterfly" mounting-strap for the crane-chain is interesting looking... probably a good clue to who made it... not sure it's TTCo. Will check my TTCo. morning glory in the morning...

Just checked my TTCo. horn: the hanger mounts come to a point at the outer ends.

Ok definitely not Tea Tray, so anyone else have any ideas?

Not sure of the manufacturer, but it looks like
a nice one! I think it's well worth getting the
proper extension cone for it and putting it back like
it's supposed to be.

Just for reference, a few years ago I found and bought
a complete 11 panel TeaTray horn at a 2nd-hand store
in Danville, IL for $35 cash. It had been listed on ebay with no takers so I emailed the seller and found out
the location and drove over there and got it.

Very interesting shop too, by the way. In with the old books was a very old tattered but still very readable copy of "The Boy's Life of Edison" from 1923 and I bought that for the grand total price of 25 cents. All in all, that was a very good day as far as scrounging for Edison stuff!

I am interested to know how you intend to attach the repair cone to the rest of the horn. They were originally done with a bead, but that part is gone.

I intend to use solder or brazing.
