Hello guys, look at my new find for 25 dollars a Victrola VV-X. The cabinet was in need of some refinishing and cleaning, one of the mainsprings was broken but I was able reuse it since it broke at the very beginning hey! for 25 bucks I didn't ask too many questions. This is the finish product except for the exhibition reproducer that came with it and that I'm rebuilding now, the one in the pictures is another exhibition that I have for spare.

Awesome find and restoration. There are still some bargains out there. I just picked up a VV-XI for $40. It isn't in the best of shape but the parts are.

Congrats! That is what makes this hobby so fun. There are still plenty of things out there and many are affordable.
In the last six months or so, I went to the second day of an estate sale and found an VV-XI for $50. It needed work, but came with an Exhibition Reproducer which alone was worth the $50.

Can't beat that combination, a victrola in very nice condition for very little money. This is why we keep looking and beating the bushes.
Thanks for sharing.
Best Regards, Larry

Guys I want to know if the horn in this VV-X is the same size as the bigger upright floor models like the VV-XIV and VV-XVI? Thanks for all the great comments and support.

Hopefully, someone can say absolutely, but from my recollection from seeing one at a local shop, I would say "no".
The X reminded me of a downsized XI in all dimensions.
If it were to share a horn with another model, I would think it would be with either an IX, XI, or VIII ?
PS: I just remembered, I have a junker VIII out in the garage (no motor or hardware, no lid)... if I can unearth it, I'll measure the horn-door opening, and the distance from the center of the taper-tube mount to the front edge of the cabinet...

The X is more like a slightly enlarged IX with a base cabinet. They are pleasantly compact.
