Model O vs Diamond B

Could it be that Edison purposely designed the B to be quieter & more "mellow"? None of my Bs approach the powerful volume of my new Model O ! I might have injured my hearing with a couple of xylophone and band records, lately - can't even stay in the same room for some of them.
I should add that my O has the full-size, round weight - so I'll not play wax Amberols too often.

I had the same experience. Steve Medved just rebuilt a Model-O for me and even he was surprised at how loud it was on both 2-min and 4- minute.

A well rebuilt O sounds fantastic, no doubt but for Blue Amberols I much prefer the diamond A or B. It brings out the lower range much better.

I have O reproducers on my Triumph A and my Standard D. That O reproducer makes 2 minute wax sound better than Blue Amberols. I switch back and forth between the O and the B for Blue Amberols, and I think my Diamond B has maybe a little advantage on the higher end.
