I have only found a precious 2 or 3 of these very late Edison Ediphone Blue Amberol cylinders in many years of collecting phonographs and cylinders.

These cylinders were sold in special cotton lined late Blue Amberol boxes and the plaster core is solid (no raised ridges) and is a unique lavender color (light purple).

Very few were sold and fewer have survived.

This one is #19. "HOW EDWARD BOK PLANNED HIS DAY" by Edwin McNamara. The cylinder is in excellent condition - probably never played. The box is missing its original bottom and there is no lid.

Please send me a fair offer by PM for this if it is of interest to you. If the offer seems fair to both of us then we will have a deal. Shipping will be added using USPS Media Mail unless you prefer a USPS expedited service. Payment by PayPal is preferred but check and money order is fine also.

Thanks,
Doug

I'm not sure what that is, but technically it's not an educational cylinder for the School Phonograph. Those records were numbered from 1651 to 1710.

This is one of the Ediphone school series, probably made in 1929-1930. Sutton's Blue Amberol book discusses these briefly on p. 298. I think they are mentioned in one of Dethlefson's books too.

These are 150 tpi and play at 90 rpm according to Sutton and seem to be primarily for dictation practice. As the record number increases, so does the rate of speech. The first records are 30 words per minute (wpm), increasing to 40, 50, 60, and so on. This one says 125 wpm and is the next to last in the series of 20.

Amazingly, I just found the original titled lid (SEE BELOW) for this cylinder. The lid for this one was incorrectly used as a lid on another cylinder in the same box that this came from. So now this one is complete with exception of the box bottom which is exactly the same as the late Edison Blue Amberol cylinder box bottoms.

This is Ediphone Standard Practice Record #19. So this is a VERY late Edison Blue Amberol - in all probability this series of Edison Blue Amberol cylinder were produced later than the very last of the standard issue Edison Blue Amberols.

If it does not sell here I will happily keep it or I may list it on Ebay sometime down the road.

It is surely a relic of the last days of Edison Blue Amberol cylinder pressing and very elusive.

According to Dethlefson, the Ediphone BAs were manufactured all the way until 1960. :o

Highly unlikely.

This Ediphone School (Practice) series of cylinders would be surfacing all over the place if that were the case. I've personally seen a lot more Edison Blue Amberol cylinders in the 5700 series than I have of any Ediphone Blue Amberols like this.
