You really think the value of these has dropped that much. 500 is now the high end? I mean, setting aside the fact that this likely has a bottle or two of old English dumped all over it.

I remember when these late L-Door machines fetched $700-800 years ago. My have they dropped in value, if $500.00 is too high.

How much does a complete set of correct albums in nice condition cost ?


I did pay more than $500 for my L-door B/C over 10 years ago, but it came with all the original, VTLA box albums, bill of sale, AND original records.


I think the market for machines has been a little soft these last couple of years...


(I was more than a little disheartened not have any inquiries on my C-19...)


When it comes to L-doors, it seems most folks are looking for Pooleys or B-models with the frieze.

It might have something over it, but I don't think it's ever been stripped and refinished... Or if it has, whomever did it at least had the sense to get the inside, as well. If that's the case, they must know what they're doing because the decal is there, too.

I guess if I thought it had been refinished, I wouldn't have bothered posting it here. Emphasis on the word 'thought', because y'all generally know more than me yet... It *is* pretty shiny for that age.

If I would put any of my machines up for sale I would go over it with lemon oil before I take pictures. So I guess mine would be to shiny as well? Sometimes I don't understand what everyone is complaining about, if it was dirty and dusty that would not be right either. But I agree that it is disheartening how low the prices on these have fallen. I know I paid a lot more for mine a few years ago.

it can just be difficult to get a sense of the quality of the finish and whether there may be any issues when a machine has been so heavily coated with a coverup like that... in this case, it doesn't even look like it was buffed off, just applied very heavily to give it a quick cheap shine for the photos... and that usually raises some flags for me.

otherwise, though, I see nothing wrong with using some basic materials properly - if not just a clean rag - to remove extraneous dust and dirt. and I much prefer that to situations where someone is attempting to sell something coated in grime, as if that somehow lends some sort of credibility to its being a legitimate and untampered-with old barn or attic find.

I looks like a great machine at a very good price. Jerry
