When to change a Amberola Diamond B Stylus?

I bought my Amberola 30 in 2007, I installed a new stylus and bar that summer,
it is now 8 years later. My how time flies.
I listen to about 5-10 Amberols per month, that's about 960 cylinders played on that stylus.
I am wondering if it is time for a change, as I do not want to wear or damage any records.

The usual sign of a worn Diamond B or C stylus is a kind of echoing when you play a record. If you're not hearing that, you should be fine.

I agree and concur.
When you hear the echoing..It's time for a new one..
Otherwise, Leave it alone if its still playing well...because it's fine.

An original diamond stylus should last far longer than that. A replica, who knows? By the time the stylus is worn enough to hear an echo, you may be wearing the records already. As I have said on other threads, an examination using a microscope is the only reliable way to evaluate the degree of stylus wear. The tip should be round without a flat spot.
