Phono Reason For Owning A Pony Car! Really!!!

I recently picked up a Victrola 8-8 for a friend. We knew that the motor board was badly warped. The motor and board were removed by the prior owner and placed in a damp storage shed for quite a few years. I suspect the good intentions were to repair the motor and re-install in the Victrola. This was never done and the result was a warped board.

I hated to deliver the machine at Union in sad condition so I'm attempting to straighten the motor board. I soaked the board in warm water for about ten minutes. Next I placed it between two pieces of ¾" plywood with layers of wax paper between the damp motor board and the plywood. Finally, I parked my old Mustang on top of the motor board sandwich where I'll leave it for a week or so. Will I be successful?

I'll report on the results in a week for so. If it works I suggest all you phono nerds to go out a buy a pony or Muscle car. Buy one with a cast iron V8 and, better yet, make it a big block cast iron V8.

Now that's an original use for a 'stang. I'll bet money that's never been done before. Good luck for success! :P

Oh, nice car!

Before the age of home food processors, my mother wanted a quicker way to crush chocolate wafers for a pie crust. She triple-wrapped the cookies in baggies, followed with a couple paper bags, and placed the package under the back wheel of our 1967 Plymouth Belvedere. She backed over the cookies, got out, rearranged the bag and drove forward over them again. Perfect cookie crumbs! I kid you not! The folks celebrate their 68th wedding anniversary this June. Here's a picture of them with their ten children taken in April. I'm in there somewhere!

Bob, I thought it would be easy to pick you out of the crowd but there are several candidates. Nice photo. Jerry Blais

I would caution anyone who attempts this to not try and substitute with a Hyundai Pony.
Oil leakage may damage the wood, and there is always the risk of fire.

I'm afraid my '28 Model A might be too light for this duty... I guess I need to get myself a K-model Lincoln... (big V-12)

Jerry,

I'm pulling for your little experiment to be a great success.
Looks like an otherwise clean example.

With fingers crossed,

Gene

Good luck with the experiment. I had a warped Credenza door right itself just by having it in a climate controlled space for about a month.
