Brunswick question

I contacted this guy about buying this for 100.00

We agreed on a price after he told me it was all there.

Now he wont get back to me to tell me where to pick it up at...what a bugger.

I don't know....maybe it wasn't even worth a hundred?

I was pretty excited about it...and I'm bummed that he wont get back to me.

Any thoughts on this?

and is it common to not finish transactions on craigslist? I'm so baffled about the no response.

any chance some one else here could try to pick it up for me and I can arrange to pick it up from ya? lol

Looks like a smaller B-wick, but they were all high-quality machines.

If the only issue is the broken grille, I think you were OK at $100.

Can't help you about the contact issue...

There has been some severe weather out in the heartland these last two weeks; maybe phone / I-net has been interrupted ? ( Wild guess )

Hope it all works-out for you.

Sadly it is all too common. I suspect that he got a higher offer & blew you off. It has happened to me three times.

Unlike Ebay there is no binding contract to complete a sale on Craigslist- it's like a newspaper ad- Craigslist hosts it & takes no further responsibility.

While I have not had it happen to me yet, I expect that Estott is correct. That is, someone came along with a better offer and that was that. With Craig's list items I usually do my bargaining when I go to inspect the item.

I am painting with a very broad brush, but I think the free Craigslist listings coupled with no feedback system draw a different class of seller than those found on eBay. I have read about a lot of shady characters on CL. Buyer beware!

I've made several deals I have been very happy with involving Craig's List sellers, but some caution is in order. If you get any bad vibes it is a good idea to arrange to meet the person and view the item in a very public place.

I asked him if we could meet in public.
His reply was that he was the one taking the risk by letting someone come to his house and he would not rob me over 100.00.
He said he had no way to haul it.

I wrote that I could pick it up from his home..and I've heard nothing back.

This is about an hr drive from Phoenix. My parents live in Sun City. My Dad was going to pick it up and haul it to Montana for me.

Not that I really need another player...but at that price I was hoping to pick it up.
It would of been a fun clean up project.

In the ad he said he needed it gone ASAP..but he's had the ad for 2 months now.
Goodness why bother placing an ad if you don't really want to sell it?

Maybe he did sell it. Just wish he would let me know...lol

If you don't mind dealing with shipping, this really pristine original finish Brunswick Ultona has been on CL in Wimberley TX for a long time (I've been eying it myself as the price has been coming down). It probably needs mainspring work, judging from the seller's comments, but the case looks perfect apart from one missing knob.

here is one, a lot closer. Plenty of extras too, Records, needle tin, looks like a record book, etc. Cliff is real close to repair the motor and you can pick it up next time you are in the area.

thanks for the replies...I do appreciate them.

Mike...that's a pretty player.
I'm not able to drive to Portland though.

I have come across some others around the same price or less even on Craigslist. But they are to far away for me to pick up.
This by Phoenix was close enough for my parents to pick up

I can't afford shipping one to me.

I think I'm just miffed about the silence after a deal was made.
I was really excited about getting it.
