Question bout Kalamazoo Duplex Serial Numbers

Post by Jerry B. »

Does anyone know if there is a site or collector that is registering serial numbers of Kalamazoo Duplex talking machines? The number can be found by lifting the deck and checking the top edge of the cabinet. Mine is #7297. Thanks, Jerry Blais

That's the most complete, well-researched work on Duplex I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing! :)

Richard, welcome to the forum and thanks for the post of the website:
I contacted the library with an offer to supply scans of more original Kalamazoo Duplex Phonograph related paper items in my possession. I already got a response --- they seem quite excited about the offer. It's so nice to be able to share this information with others, rather than just having it sit on a shelf in one of my binders of phonograph/record related paper.

Does anyone else have something to contribute to this worthwhile project?

Thanks again for the post,
Bob

Rich Gordon took a picture of one of these that was at the last Wayne show. It's on this thread:

The German "Diadem" gramophone, shown to the public at least from early March 1903, was perhaps a source of inspiration for Charles E. Hill's Duplex. Here is an ad from January 1904.

Does anyone have any info about this German Diadem? I've never heard of it but am curious... Was it in production or just a concept?

Thanks

Joe
