Problem with recorder

Post by Gramtastic »

Hi,can anyone help ? I offered to lend a friend a machine with a recorder as he is going to a technical meeting and wanted to demonstrate how they worked. It has always worked fine but this time as soon as the stylus touched the cylinder we got a high pitched squealing noise. I can't see anything wrong with the recorder and it was working fine a few days ago. Can anyone help ??

I wonder if this is what is referred to as "cold wax chatter" ?

I think I remember reading that Shawn Borri keeps his recording machine & blank warm with a 100-watt bulb in a cardboard "coop" ?

Hi
it appears the tip of the stylus has broken off - any recommendations for someone to replace it ?
