Yeah I can help you. I've worked on RCA 45 changers from the late 40s and early 50s. Your changer looks like it uses the RP-168 mechanism. What's wrong with it?

Everything in changer works fine i installed a new cartridge and it plays fine until it gets hot and then the sound gets scratchy and unclear approximately 7 records or so. other than that it works great.
Thanks Eric

Ok that is a component in the amplifier that is breaking down when it gets warmed up after a while. Has the amp been restored?

Ok if it hasn't been restored then it's the capacitors in the amp. Back then they were nothing but layers of wax paper and foil. After years and years the electrolyte between the layers dry up and they short out. So all of the capacitors need to be changed out. Have you had any experience with soldering? Or do you need someone to rebuild the amp for you?

I can solder. If i can find the caps i need i can solder them in . What effect does a weak tube have on anything?

It really depends on what kind of tube it is.

There are 3 rca tubes inside that plug into amp look just like the TV tubes we used to take to the grocery store test on the machine and locate a weak one.

You can download the schematic from here:
http://www.antiqueradioschematics.org/rca.htm
You have to select the model. Your changer is a 45-EY- 1.
Order capacitors from here:
