I saw a well worn VV-125 in an antique store by me. It's missing doors, the motor is noisy. Sounds rusty. I couldn't lift the bedplate off, though the interior looks decent. Do any other model doors fit this? It's also a very early #542 with correct reproducer. They are asking $500. Little to steep for me, but if anyone here is interested let me know. It's just down the street from me. He told me a Victrola expert told him it was worth $1000. I told him maybe in mint condition. He said it is mint, it runs fine.

At that price it sounds like an opportunity, but man, those doors might not be easy to replace. Anything's possible, though.

If he would come down to 300 I might go for it. I will keep a close eye on it. It would be fun to bring back to life, but those doors, those doors...

What's the difference between a Victrola 125 and a 130? To me, they look the same.

The horn in the 125 is a little bigger than previous Victrolas (according to the VDB). It might have the hidden hinges instead of the exposed ones. Some slight dimension differences and fewer finish options. Other than that, probably not much.

My guess is that a set of doors to complete this machine will be very hard to find. This would be a good basement or garage machine, but not at 500 bucks.

Apparently only 2168 of the 125's were made while 5259 of the 130 were made. "Look for the Dog" states a larger horn, so maybe those doors would work, but yes, very difficult to find. The 130 was a renamed XVII. It also states they both were the most deluxe of the upright style instruments offered by Victor in 1923.(with exception to the custom models.) Record albums were included at no extra cost. I agree 500 is way to high in this condition, but it does peak my interest.
