Anyone know what model this is? I have a chance to buy it but not sure what model it is. They say wind it or plug it in. Any help would be appreciated. You can see an electric wire back right rear leg.

Hi Larry:

Can the owner give you the plate information (model number)?

Looks like a nice machine.

Just make sure it works and all the parts are there, I got into that mess last week, bought a machine, nice cabinet but swapped out parts.

All the best,

Jerry

I don't know the model, but that is a very handsome machine.
I wonder if the black accents are original?

Owner states that it is a Model 250. Never seen a 250 that looks like this.

Hiya,

You should try to get a good image of the dataplate.

I'm not finding anything like it in my catalogues, but mine only go up to 1923. It is possibly a "250" horn and even maybe a double spring mechanism, but it's neither of the Chippendale 250 "Consoles" that Frow shows in his book.

It's very handsome!

Fran

While searching my Frow book on disc phonographs I came across this on page 281. For those who can't read this it states: Special Edison disc Phonograph Serial number 3218, believed purchased by Henry Ford for presentation to Frederick Black, director of advertising of the Ford Motor Company. It is built in walnut with burl walnut doors. (The picture is in b&w.) If your not interested tell him I'll trade him my S-19 for it. It might be worth a look  Seriously, if you pass on it let me know.

Gary, You found a great link in Frow's book. What are the chances that it's the same Phono?? Slim, but possible. I doubt that it was just an Edison "one-off", but you never know. One would think that Edison produced at least 20 examples of that phonograph. Either way, It is way, way low production. I would love to know what the model name is.. Interestingly Enough, Frow chose to put this phonograph in the section of his book under the Chapter : "Giant Brass Recording Horns" for what its worth..

Seriously, go get it right now and tell us how you do.

I find this so deeply compelling I'm trying hard not to fall off my chair.

Yeah, Larry, You'd better buy this before you regret it for the rest of your life.

How much was he looking for it??

What state is it located in??

If it was from originally Michigan, I wonder how it ever wound up in Central Iowa...where you are located.

Keep us Posted!

I'm looking forward to an update also. This is something you dream about coming across.I agree, I'm thinking he made a handful of these. Either way it's a beautiful piece and limited run one would think. I'm also betting it's a four spring, Duncan stop, Edisonic or dance reproducer and hopefully some 52000 pristine records...ooohh the mind wanders. Must. Get. Back. To. Work. Aaaaarg.
