That has the early lid decal. It might have a brass sound box on it! Kind of hard to tell from the pictures.

Harvey, that is what I thought. They are usually gutted. At least they left the tone arm and reproducer in place so you can play it either way.

Interesting serial number -C468- not listed on Paul Edie's site or in Baumbach LFTD and VDB. The cabinet doesn't match either of the two (early and later) types, although it's more like the later with respect to the legs and stretcher; but look at the doors: they're quite plain, no detailing around the knobs or upper front, etc., etc. Maybe an export model? "C" for "Canadian"?

I bought a Credenza a few years ago up in Minneapolis and it was a Canadian machine. The serial number was marked with a C like that. The ID tag also read on the top, "Theatre of the Home" and above where it was marked Credenza is said "The gift that keeps on giving" Also says "Victor Talking Machine Co. of Canada, Limited, Montreal" The lid decal was a little different as well. I still have the ID tag around here, it's a lot heavier than the American made one's as well. The people had that one out in their back yard and I got it for hauling. It was in really bad shape, but did have some good parts on it yet.

Well, duh on me, the tag says "[VTMCO] of Canada, Limited, Montreal" right on it! Mystery solved. Shoulda looked the first time.

I believe that's a potmetal soundbox. If you look carefully at the photo on Ebay, using their magnifier, you can see a couple of small gray spots where the black paint is chipped away. The needlebar bearing area looks to be nickel plated. If this was a brass box, that area would black. It is an early arm because of the 2 piece taper tube construction.
