"Also Sprach Zarathustra" was published in 1896 by Richard Strauss who died in 1949. The composition would be in the public domain in the USA (because it is pre-1923), but not in countries that use the "author's life plus 70 years" rule.

The sound recording would not be public domain in the USA unless the copyright holder explicitly declared it to be so, which is highly unlikely.
