Send me a PM if anybody has one. I don't care what condition it's in as long as it's solid and there's not a bunch of veneer missing.
Thanks

Nick, A Standard B on up should work. They are fairly common.

Yep it will.

It actually depends whether the model C machine is in a Tall style case (like the model B) or in a Late style case. Both will fit, but the Tall style lid will have the extra edge below the moulding and the Late style lid will not.

Martin

Martin is correct, the later lids lack a detail in the molding that the earlier lids have. And as mentioned both will fit but depending on how much of a purist you are, might dictate which one you will be looking for.

The case has the high molding like the standard D cabinet but the lid was so deteriorated that I don't know if it had the extra lip below the moulding. Here's a picture of what the machine looked like when I got it last week:

Wow! What a cool project! Can you post a photo or two of the lid? It might be possible one of us might be able to save it. I hope you keep a restoration diary of this one. I'd be interested in seeing your progress.

Martin

Here's what's left of the original lid. I could make a new lid from scratch and now that I'm thinking about it I might try...

Oh my. Looks like the termites have been working this over for a while. Yep. I'd go with a new lid. I'd save the pieces. The veneer could be good for patching and the moulding could possibly be massaged into a replacement piece or two. I can see that you've got a fairly late Late style lid: moulding has finger-jointed corners with 3 screw type lid clips. The ICS tag on the front of the case also indicates a late machine because it references Thomas A. Edison, Inc. rather than The National Phonograph Co. I may have one for you if you don't already have one. I'll PM you.

Martin

Dive right in and have fun, that's how we learn. You can't hurt it, you can only make it better.

I'm curious, the case is marked as a ICS machine, but the mechanism has none of the ISC hardware (that I can see). exposed speed control, special carriage and phrase repeater.
