Anyway, for those who criticize the Edison Long Play records and system, they clearly do have a market today!

Yes, I too bid on this one. I have been lucky lately concerning LP Edison records. I already own 30001 and 30002 in E+ or NOS condition. These two plus my 10" collection are really enough to satisfy my LP mechanism on my Beethoven. But when you see more, you want to collect more. The records are as they say worth more than the LP console itself.

It would be nice if these could be re-pressed in that resin like they do with the cylinder records. It is just so hard to find those Edison Long Plays.

I do not own a Edison LP machine but for those that do it would be nice.

I heartily endorse that! I think that's right up with recreating some of the concert-sized cylinders, etc. But I imagine recreating the LP discs would be super, super challenging.

It would be seriously cool if someone could re-create these Long play records. Imagine having a LP record full of dubs of Edison records from the late 20s, records with artist like B.A Rolfe, Vaughn De leath and Duke Yellman. Plus these could be created with modern LP presses, right? It's probably more doable then reproduction 78s.

I totally agree, Tom. Hopefully the fellow at the Berlin Phonographic Works (name escapes me at the moment) is taking notice. Reproducing those great late 1920s Edison artists from electric Diamond Discs would be right up his ally as he has done the same with many of his cylinders.

Main challenge, I would guess, would be producing a disc that was sufficiently hard/tough to withstand the incredible pressure of the Edison LP stylus (backed by its heavy weight).

I have one Edison LP that I played only once, more to check if the Schubert would take through the 20 minute (it did). I found the music quite boring, orchestral 20's dinner music, and shelved it away giving its place to foxtrots and other types of music more to my taste. Benoist was a good player, so an LP with his songs would be nicer. The main shortcoming with Edison's LPs is that their A&R did not seize the opportunity that the longer playing offered, and instead of making dedicated recordings, just cobbled up previously recorded short pieces to fill up the time.

Hey Carlos, does your Schubert have a double spring? Must have! Have you registered your Schubert on my list of Edisonics? I'm actually quite tame these days and my contributions to this forum even tamer.

It sure does! I'll get its serial number and register it. I bought it in an auction in England, so it will be interesting to compare with the other native products.
