The seller doesn't know a radio horn from a phonograph horn, and it's a piece of junk, but "it keeps trying to eat the cat"

Am I out of the loop, or does it seem like $15.00 plus shipping is a bit much to pay for something this common that's in such rotten shape?

These things are pretty damm heavy (stamped steel and pot metal castings) and bulky as well- it's a case where shipping costs exceed the value.
These orphaned radio speaker horns turn up constantly.

I didn't realize that Magnavox was active that far back...

Indeed, I feel the same way when I hear "Motorola". There were so many "ola" brands back then but I've never considered Motorola one of them, but I suppose they are!

Motorola has done quite well with keeping themselves current and relevant. They opted for that name when the company started manufacturing car radios in 1930; the name is a combination of “motor” and “Victrola”.

I am selling this horn because it keeps trying to eat the cat (see photo), and we all voted on it and decided we preferred the cat...not that the horn is not a great companion... Here is a very early phonograph amplifying horn with a 14 inch diameter. the tin amplifier is 22 inches tall. there is a decal in the front of the bell with animage f a phonograph with horn attached and THE MAGNAVOX CO. U.S.A. the finish is very old and most of the black paint has crackled away, but this early phonograph horn still ahe great potential to finish a magnavox antique record player or Edison phonograph ensemble.

I just realized the cat picture makes sort of a His Masters Voice parody- too bad it wouldn't be recognizable as an avatar

I could always try it—it might be small, but...it’s worth a shot. I did think that was rather cute.
