I have been playing one of the almost white wax cylinders I have and at the start the announcement seems to be...."Medley Of Favorite Tunes" By Henry (maybe Harry) Burnside.

Can any member recall a Henry Burnside on early wax..??. I would appreciate any and all information.

Chances are the speaker says "Medley," not "Melody," since the latter makes no sense (unless the "Favorite Tunes" shared the same melody!).

Here is a short recording I made of the announcement in question. I hope a member can make sense of it. I had to slow it down. It sounds like a woman if I play at normal speed.

Many brown wax cylinders were recorded at much slower speeds, usually 120 or 144 RPM vs. 160 that was "standard" later.

I've never heard of the name and I couldn't make the announcement out very well, but may I suggest going to archive.org and searching the Phonoscope issues, they feature "new" cylinder releases and you may find a name that matches up, or something close. I know there are a couple reference books on early cylinders, but I don't have any of them, perhaps someone else here does.

That's OK. In the business we used to call it a "Smedley." Turns out Smedley composed quite a lot of music.

If we could hear the entire record, it would be easier to figure this out ....

I have had a chance to record almost the whole record. Can anyone tell me what song this is please and instrument..?. This record is almost white color or a very light brown. This may be a home recording. The word "tunes" does not seem to fit the period.
What do the experts say..??.

To me it sounds more like a concertina or simple accordion. There are simultaneous notes that would be difficult to play on a single harmonica.
