I was heading over to drop something off at my Mothers and normally don't stop at garage sales anymore. However, I decided to stop and look. Naturally, as I expected..... there was nothing......or so I thought.

I did ask the question "do you have any old records..??". The lady said "no, but we have an old record player".
I was just about to say..."sorry, a little too new for me", when the Husband said..."it has a small horn".

So, the lady takes me inside and this is what I find.

It's a Berliner KT. Not any KT, but a transitional model with Victor parts now used.

The machine came down from her family....she said.

Anyway, it is in original untouched condition and in great overall condition.

Great Story, Beautiful Machine!
What more could you ask for?

Interesting how the machine looks like an early Victor I,
but has a single spring E type motor. I love the "funky" governor weights.

Thanks all for the comments. I'm just glad I had asked. Had I not.....it would have been a big goose egg.....0.

I would say the Victor Z or early Victor 1 would be the US equivalent. However, Berliner did use some parts that were his own....like the fluer de lis style escutcheon plates.
Yet, this KT has some parts already morphing into Victor. The crank is very cool.

I have oiled the motor and other than the normal gear noise....she plays very well. Lucky, I have one Canadian (brown) 8" record that also has the "Victor Record" label. They are not too easy to find.

Based on the data plate showing a 1907 date.....I would say this machine is circa 1907-08.

The flower horn is 17.5" across and very tiny.
