My heart kind of sank as someone has already cracked the glass diaphragm. I am very surprised how not regarded professional studio acoustic recording equipment is to the masses of collectors. It was probably tossed from one collector to another. "Uh I don't know what this is, it is not to a Berliner, or Victor VI, I don't want it, it is too weird." I wish my recorder still had the red rubbery gunk on it, that was on it when the set of recorders was purchased. That gunk is very valuable to restoring it, but it was cleaned off before it was sold to us researchers. So I will never know what that red gunk was, because it was to hideous to sell???? Word to the wise, if you find a professional piece of acoustic recording equipment, DO NOT remove anything from it, before you sell it, those dried up gaskets, ect. Are more valuable to researches than a Berliner string wind gramophone!!! Those little items are the key to the secrets of such items. If it was left in place, it could have been sent to a lab to be identified, and duplicated!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope whomever buys this, carefully scrutinizes every screw, gasket, and piece. The tension on the stylus bearing bar and restores it properly with the exact thickness of glass diaphragm and exact type of gaskets. It is a lateral gramophone recorder for sure, I would be nice if this equipment could all be traced back to who used it, the history is so exciting behind these items, what company used, it, who sang into it. This all does not seem to interest many, a big yawn at best. These are links to the history of the records!!!!
