Found Out Something About an Edison A100 Today

I recently bought an oak Edison A100 with a very bad cabinet but good legs and hardware. Plan was to use the legs from this machine on another A100 I have with an excellent cabinet and no legs. Today, I dismantled the A100 with the legs and discovered the legs and cabinet corners are a single solid piece of wood from the floor all the way to the top of the cabinet. I thought the legs were separate pieces connected to the cabinet by studs or pegs or something. Go figure...

Did that foil your plan, or can you still do it. I learned that a long time ago that old legs are part of the cabinet, unlike modern furniture, which has simpler construction.

I wonder if your legless A-100 is an amputee ?

I looked on the underside of the legless A100 and there were round sawed off segments. I guess I didn't look too close, I assumed they were pegs that could be reamed out and replaced for the new legs. Don't know what I'm going to do, now. I considered screw type studs, or even drilling holes for wooden studs, but the legs look too flimsy to be weakening them by drilling holes. Guess I'll just have to be content with a table top A100.

If you dismantled the legged cabinet, then simply dismantle the legless one and rebuild it with the legs using the best parts of both.
Worst thing that can happen is that you will have two disassembled machines

Cliff, you're very good at what you do. I'm sure you'll make it work.It just won't be as easy.

I would just be satisfied with the Amputee...its actually a good example of how the company made some defective cabinet designs.
