Today I went to a garage sale and was surprised when there was a box of some really nice records for 2 dollars. One of the records I bought is Good Bye by Nellie Melba. I always thought these Melba records were on a pink Victor label. This ones on the old style red label. The record itself is in VERY VERY nice condition, not perfect but a very nice record, just has some dirt that I need to clean. It's also a 12 inch recording. I can't find much info on the internet about it and am wondering about its value and rarity. Here are some pictures:

The pink label Melba records have more value than the standard red seal type which usually sell for a about two to four dollars each, and sometimes less. (More details in the PM)

Red Seal Melba records are very common. Maybe some that have more value based upon what someone wants at that time, but a title like Goodbye is plentiful. A title like her Boheme duet with Caruso would probably have more demand.

The pink (or mauve) labels are more valuable, but the red labels are better pressings.

Being in Britain I only see G&T or GCL pressings of Melba. Here the label colour was described as "Lilac" and it carried on well into the teens. The pink label was used for more ordinary mortals, like Patti and Caruso .......

I believe the early Melba records used the pink label, but Victor later issued them as regular Red Seals.

The label on yours indicates that it was pressed sometime between 1908 and 1915.
