SOLD: Columbia Viva Tonal model 163 rebuilt - $175

Virgin machine. Corners of covering need gluing. Brush off dust. Black polish the material, clean it up, and you will have a $400 portable in just a few hours. Needs a piece of leatherette or brass on the back of the player compartment. Was lost long ago. I After I posted the photos .... I was bored last night so I redid the rubber gaskets in the reproducer, made a new soft rubber mounting flange and oiled the motor. WOW!!! What a player! I might do more work on cleaning up the case when time permits, but price just goes up. Wayne delivery only. $sold

Very nice machine. I had one and kind of regret selling it. These machines weigh a ton, but put out great volume and plenty of bass from an electric recording. It seems for Columbia's Viva-Tonal line, the portables were their big sellers.

These photos look like the one I just bought. I think I've got this very machine on the way. I'll know for sure when it gets here, but I'd bet the farm...

It does look like that machine! This hobby never ceases to amaze me. Seller was not person who I sold to.
Well, if it is the same machine, it should sound pretty darn good!

Well, if it is the same machine, it should sound pretty darn good!
It's the exact same machine, I can tell from the photos, even the strip in the back that was missing, looks like it was patched up with something. Same faded turntable felt and pattern in the woodgrain. I'm expecting it will sound good, the Viva Tonal 160 I already have sounds great.

I shot that with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G3 micro four thirds mirrorless camera and an Olympus 25mm f1.8 digital lens. My go-to setup these days. I do notice that there is less bass response from this sound box than the one in my Viva Tonal 160. Not sure why, maybe I should have it rebuilt by George V. Or maybe that's just the way this one sounds.
