Interesting Facts: This is my first cylinder Machine. Which came with a larger brass horn, and a small crane.

Very nice machine (and the display is even nicer with the framed artwork behind it). Do you normally use that horn, or the larger horn and crane?

Great machine Paul. I also have a Home which is awaiting restoration consisting of a motor strip down as it runs very sluggishly. My favourite thing about these machines is that the gearing is to one side rather than in tandom with the mandrel as with the "Fireside" model.

I normally use the horn, that you see in the photo, Dave. The crane that I have is designed for a morning glory horn. As my larger brass horn is to big, and requires a floor crane. The artwork behind the machine, is an Edison reproduction, that I found in an antique store. In Ellicott City MD.

Here is what my large brass horn looks like. If you look closely, you will notice that the chain on the crane, hangs at an angle, and not straight up and down. Because this horn requires a floor crane.

Looks to me like you could shorten the rod that goes into the bent portion of the crane and the horn with chain would hang correctly. Jerry

Jerry, Aaron, It might be as short as it can go. I had a home with a reproduction crane with a simlar problem. I cut it ~ 4 inches shorter and problem solved. This crane may be original though. If that's the case obviously don't do that.
