Late Model VIC III Motor Problem - RESOLVED! Thanks!

I'm trying to refurbish the springs in a late VIC III motor. This is a motor I have not seen before, 2 1" springs in a single spring barrel. Normally, I would remove the set screw that secures the winding pawl gear to the spring barrel shaft, remove the winding pawl gear, then punch out the shaft. This time, though, the shaft only moves about ⅜" then stops. Seriously stops. I have tapped on the shaft as hard as I dare to try to punch it out with no results. It is stopped cold at ⅜". Am I missing something?
Thanks! Cliff

Cliff, This should work the same way as the later double spring motors with the single barrel. Is there a foreign object to keep the pin from coming out? Clean the motor the best you can, so you can inspect it. Sometimes it's a simple thing that has been overlooked. Good luck and let us know.

Remove the winding gear, then slide the shaft out the other way.

Thanks for 2 bits of good advice. I did some cleaning and discovered another set screw whose removal allowed me to take off the winding gear. The shaft came out easily after that.
Yeee-Haaa!! Cliff
