I found both of these machines on Craigslist for $25 each! One is an oak Edison H-19 and the other is an interesting offbrand called the Shenandoah.

Outstanding, Nick! You probably saved these restorable machines from the dump. When I was younger, I bought every project machine I could find. I learned SO much tearing them apart and getting them back to playing condition. At one point I had over 100 "project" machines in my garage. Keep up the good work hunting for these great machines!

The oak Edison looks especially nice. Great finds! Tom Rutkowsky may even have a repro grill for the Edison should you need one.

I've never heard of a Shenandoah phonograph. See if you can find out any more about the company. Although it looks like a fairly plain machine, sometimes the small "me too" companies had interesting histories.

The Shenandoah is one of the companies (there are probably a good number) that were not found by R.J.Wakeman in his research on off-brand talking machines. In this article he listed over 460!

I've got a couple that he didn't find. They were usually made in smaller cities and were likely intended for a local or regional market. Many machines built in the South fall into this category. Many of these are interesting machines, even if some aren't of the greatest quality.

OP - does the Shenandoah have a Heineman motor?
