Here is a super cool item you don't see very often or at all. It is a grease blotter, to be placed in the bottom of an Edison Standard machine. It is stamped on both sides as coming from the Tietz Music Co. of Albany New York. This phonographic concern offered both Edison and Victor Talking Machines. It is marked Apr. 6, 1910 on three of the corners. As well the handwritten script makes it obvious what this item was. In cursive are the words “Edison Standard Graphophone.”

The opposite side it stamped in the same manner, with the same handwritten Edison Standard Graphophone. The opposite side has an appropriate grease stain as well, showing this item was actually used in an Edison Standard.

Original paper items are hard to find. I've never seen another one of these. Pretty cool.

If you have an Edison Standard, this is a neat way to dress it up and add interest. You'll have something few others have!

The price is $35.00. Shipping additional. No PayPal, but checks are fine. I can deliver this to the Wayne show next week.

Contact with interest. [email protected]

I'm sure they also had case blotters for other Edison cylinder models, such as the Home and the Triumph. It'd helpful with the excess grease and oil.edisonplayer

Possibly so. However, this is the only one I've ever seen in 30 years of collecting!

I think this is totally cool - too bad you can't see it once it's inside the machine

Who says you have to put it in a machine? Mine has been on display beside my Standard and it has brought comment and interest from everyone who has walked by.
