Triumph phonograph combination gearing ?

Hi i wonder if someone on this forum would be able to help or shed some light on an issue i have found when fitting a 2+4 minute gearing system on the Triumph model B ?
I have taken off the original 2 minute mandrel with the attached feed screw and the left side bearing.
I have put the gearing system together and installed it and it works perfectly but what i have found is there is a couple of 2 minute cylinders that i play on my Home model A with the exact same gearing system where you pull the gear out by the flange wheel and then push back in to revert back to 2 minutes.
On some off my 2 minute cylinders on the gearing system i have installed on the Triumph i have found that the song thats nearly to the end does not finish on the gearing system i have installed?
I have the collar as far to the right as possible and i seem to have either not enough groove on the feed screw or the collar needs to be more to the right but this can't be because the collar can't go any further as there is a stop on the feed screw that goes in to the collar and then when tightening the collar there is a little hole/dimple on the mandrel where the screw tightens down?
The 2nd half nut to the right seems to hit the collar before the song finishes? I mean there is only a couple of bits to the ending of a song when this happens? If there was like a tiny bit more groove in the feedscrew then all would be ok? Also if there was only 1 half nut then again this would not be a problem but as the Triumph model B has 2 half nuts its the 2nd one to the right that hits the collar before the song finishes? I have spent all Sunday on this and did not finish until 11.00pm at night.I cleaned down and finished off with a play of a 2 min cylinder then a blue amberol before putting the machine away.
I have contacted the guy who i have bought the gearing system off and mentioned this so i'm just waiting to see what he say's? But in the meantime does anyone know of this problem with the 2nd half nut hitting the collar before the song finishes?
I have measured the original mandrel with the feedscrew on and put that against the one i have fitted and they appear to be the same lenghth but what i have noticed is on the original mandrel the part that goes through the bearing it appears slimmer so you have a lot to play with but on the gearing system i have fitted the collar is as far as it will allow so i have about a second or so left of the song before it finishes?
