Except for the wrong 45 RPM record, this is a nice original machine.

Well... The crank is definitely a reproduction, the support arm and traveling arm appear in the fuzzy photos to be cast alloy reproductions, and I have my suspicions about the horn (which looks like one of Tom Fretty's excellent reproductions from the late 1970s/early 1980s). The sound box looks like a later Zonophone, but lacks the usual engraved lettering found behind the diaphragm.

That's whats great about having an expert in our midst- it keeps those of us that have expertise in one area from making a mistake when venturing out into other areas. Having knowledgeable members at a show has kept me from making a costly mistake when getting into a new area of phonograph collecting. Thx for your continued guidance; George

George, Thanks for clarifying this. This machine would be a costly mistake. I'll stick with Columbia machines

Aw shucks...I'm blushing...

I don't mean to disparage the Zono Home offered on eBay. I've had Zonos with reproduction arms, cranks, and horns, while waiting for original parts to turn up (usually a long wait!). These parts can make an incomplete Zonophone enjoyable - - and they offer an affordable step-by-step route to a completely original machine. I just wanted any potential buyer to know what he/she was getting at the outset. :)

Audiophile 102 is right - the Zono D offered at auction is a honey. ...And I suspect it will be a bit pricier than the Zono Home on eBay. ;)

Best to all,

George P.

Is it my imagination, or is the reproducer a modern repro on the D..???.
