At least with this one they don't seem to have damaged the horn as is so often the case.

It has a label from an Easton, PA music store. Can't make it out, but it's certainly a long way from "home."

Looks like it says "Warner Music Store", but the middle "R" in "Warner" appears to be backwards... ( all other characters read correctly )... Looks like the address is 632 and 634 (?) Northampton Street, Easton, PA.

Hopefully the horn was not irrevocably modified.

By the way, the seller is asking $190 for it! The seller says it is priced to sell, and that they normally sell for $200-300. But this is a liquidation sale.

Thanks, Frank. I'm gonna check those numbers on googlemap street view and see what's there now. Uh, oh. Looks like it's a vacant lot: https://www.google.com/maps/place/634-3 ... e184782572

Hey, if you can make a lampshade out of a horn, can you make a horn out of a lampshade? Seems only fair. Plenty of cheap lampshades at Ollie's!

Henry, my goggle search turned-up a couple of business directories from the 1880's, and apparently Northampton St. in Easton was the heart of the mercantile district... no idea what it looks like today.

I think all of the talking machine store buildings here in Scranton are gone....

One such establishment, Scranton Talking Machine Co. lived-on into the 1960's, as "Scranton Talk", a furniture and household goods store. The original store was in the 300-block of Lackawanna Avenue.

As for horns from lampshades, weren't there a collapsible fabric horn back before WW I ?

Yes, Frank, and Northampton St. is still the "main drag" in Easton, with 3rd and Northampton being the heart of the business district and the location of Centre (note spelling!) Square, which despite the name is a circle, not a square (more precisely, it's a traffic circle within a square). Easton has been enjoying a resurgence in recent years, especially with new restaurants. You won't go hungry in downtown Easton, PA!
