Sonora Question

Hello, all. Just today, I finally brought to working condition the Sonora (unknown model) phonograph given me a couple months back by Stephen Phillips in Ontario. It came with two different reproducers; a Sonora with a diaphragm the same size as a Victrola #2 diaphragm, and a Sonora Superfine with a larger diaphragm. My question is simply this: Was the Sonora Superfine a response to the semi-Orthophonic Victrola #4? Or is it just a higher-end feature sold concurrently with the standard Sonora reproducer?

The number #3 Superfine soundbox is from the acoustic era. I have a Sonora portable that came with it. My Nocturne came with the smaller one with the smaller mica. They are inter changeable so it is possible to swap out. What I like about the Superfine is it is made of brass. But the Sonora pot metal die cast one seem to hold up as well as the brass. Either one, I like my Sonora for playing Pathé discs.

Both of mine seem to be brass. Even the small one.
