I found this at a local outdoor flea market today - I never seen one of these. (I have an Edison Army DD model) It's very clean, pretty heavy, plays OK, winds up nicely, no thumping, but the circle ring that locks down the tonearm into the cup is missing but the tonearm sorta stays in place. $50.00,,, not so bad for a USN field phonograph

I assume (?) this is from WW-2? Any information on this USN portable would be highly appreciated.

A nice find- these are found less often than the Army portables.

Yes I heard that! The only thing that seems missing is the little metal strap that hold the needle cup lid from popping open while the phonograph is in transit.

Harvey,
Being a Navy Man was pretty easy since your ship was powered by sails.

I understand there were a lot more Army models made then the Navy models - I wonder why? Just curious

So what was the era it was used - WW1 or WW2 ?

So what was the war it was used - WW1 or WW2 ? If you look closely at the inspectors card on the web page photograph I posted, the card looks like it is dated 1915....
