HI all , Looking for a winding crank for a cylinder phono as per the picture. The machine is a small European phonograph made by the EWC company in Germany , otherwise known as Excelsior Werke of Cologne. Their phonographs were originally sold in various countries ,not just Europe , so possibly a winding crank for one of these may turn up almost anywhere ! The phonograph is question for which the crank is needed , is an Excelsior Pearl model , but possibly the same crank was fitted to other models of phonograph made by Excelsior. If anyone has one lying around in their spares box for which they have no use , please contact me !! Also would be interested to purchase incomplete Excelsior Pearl or just its mechanism for spares ( if the winding crank is present ) THANKS !! Dulcetto

Hi Jerry , thanks for your message. I imagined that if anyone had one of these, it would be recognizable from the picture I posted as it is fairly distinctive in shape and design and as such unlike most other winding cranks. The threads you mention ( actually male , not female -- female would be internal , not external ) are probably of a profile not now in use, as being of German manufacture around 1906 - 1910 , the threads in use in Germany at that time are not in use today . The threaded part shown in my picture screws into a female threaded rod that is the crank - shaft from the motor. The crank is of fairly small dimensions , and I would say the collar next to the threaded part is a fairly distinctive feature. Dulcetto
