More Featured Phonographs

Having just become a phonograph collector this year with the purchase of a Sonora Invincible and an Edison A250, I joined this forum to learn more about the hobby. I am puzzled that there are so few machines listed in the Featured Phonographs section. This is a great resource for the novice collector and I suggest that if you want phonograph collecting to attract more people YOU need to ad your machines to the Featured Phonographs section. Please consider taking the time to add your machine(s) to the Featured Phonographs selection. Not only will you help support the hobby, you will be supporting this great forum. Thanks for reading my rant.

I never thought of it in those terms. You make a good point. Jerry Blais

In the beginnings of this forum there was an effort made to present one Featured Phonograph every week. You don't want it more frequent than that, because every Featured Phonograph should be allowed to stand in the spotlight a while for everyone to see. After all, it takes some time and effort to properly present a Featured Phonograph. Unfortunately over time the presentations have become more infrequent, but we also should recognize that 121 have been presented so far. I definitely encourage everyone to post a Featured Phonograph following the instructions in the Archives section. But please be courteous to your fellow forum members and allow about a week in between.

FWIW, back on the now defunct OTVMMB forum the "Phono Spotlight" made it to 183 posts from 2005-2008. The goal there too was to have a new post each week, but it didn't always happen. A lot of great machines out there.

I too enjoy the Featured Phonos section too and would encourage more participation. No machine is uninteresting, especially when accompanied by lots of good pictures, as detailed as possible, serial numbers, motor numbers and an accompanying story if there is one. Linkage back to the original owner is always very interesting but rarely available.
