It's a shame that such a beautiful machine like this would end up in this condition...
I wonder what the people who owned this was thinking when they painted half of it white.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!
why do such treasures and rarities always seem to find their way into the hands of such fools (or if that's too harsh, then let's simply refer to them as the tragically ill-informed). auctions like that are just depressing beyond words.

Thanks for the heads-up. That's just a few miles from me, so I will definitely be bidding!

Thanks for posting this. This is right in my backyard; I could really, really use a couple of the parts on this machine, so I am definitely going after it.

This WAS a nice Edison A-250. Aside from having been sawn in half, the upper half painted white, the grille broken, and the rear door and record drawer dividers removed, the original Edison lid has been replaced with that from a Victrola. Holy Toledo.
Thank goodness whoever did this refrained from letting their 6 year-old attempt to pinstripe the motor plate...ooops! Spoke too soon!

The striping did really catch my eyes too, why not the whole motor plate in gold??
