Yesterday I picked up a copy of Edison DD 51155,"Barney Google"/"Old King Tut" by Billy Jones and Ernest Hare.To my surprise it turned out to be 51156,"That Red Head Gal'by Atlantic Dance Orch, coupled with "A Kiss In The Dark"by Kaplan's Melodists".Obviously, someone at the factory got the record number off by ONE number. How common is it to find mislabeled Edison Diamond Discs?edisonplayer BTW:I'm looking for a copy of 51155 where BOTH the recordings and labels match.

Awe the hidden combination you got is better that what's on the label in my opinion so you did well!
I have at least a couple of the mislabeled paper labels and also a few mismatched etched labels, probably 3 or 4 total out of 800+ discs so not terribly common.

I have around 750 Diamond Discs and there are only two mislabeled examples among them. In one case (paper label, 50960 from 1922) the labels are on the right record but wrong sides. The other is an etched label from 1913 (50143) that has the correct catalog number stamped on the rim but incorrect titles and matrices.
