It's a VV-XI, possibly a G series like mine (1917), right before the switch to the fat tone arm and Vic. no.2 sound box. This one should have an Exhib. Wish I could see an enlargement of the data plate; it looks odd. That's not a bad price, if everything's OK with it. I paid (probably overpaid, considering the date) $100 for mine in 1980; it had the key and the original instruction book, plus the box for the Exhibition and a few other odds and ends.

Thanks Henry. I emailed the owner and asked for more information. I noticed that tag as well. As you say the price seems good. I'll let you know what he responds with. My wife would probably present me with an eviction notice but hey! Its Christmas :D Cheers

I wish there was a view up into the lid to see the decal. This looks like it might have had a refinish a long time ago.

Ditto; the images are frustratingly indistinct (Mmm, there must be a reason...). I daresay that most of the mahogany cabinets from this period have alligatoring to some degree or other, and this one looks suspiciously smooth and dull.

I agree on the sketchy photos, sort of like it plays great but I lost the crank. Although he stated "I oiled it" he did not specify what he oiled, the cabinet or motor. Have a good weekend

Awesome, "it does not play the records I own". Even LPs are now so ancient that people don't know the difference to 78s anymore. I should probably register myself at the registry of historic items
