I am wanting to buy a cheap « Morning Glory Horn » and I need the advice of you wonderful people. What do you think about this 2 item’s on eBay?

Since you are looking at two horns located in the USA....I will have to agree with your comment you wrote in your other thread...

"Unfortunately, buying such horns in the US is very (too) prohibitive if includ. shipping and customs. I will buy a horn in France and probably having to be painted".

Just too expensive to ship is most correct. The costs will out weigh the value of the item. Try looking local for deals. That may seem to work better.

Since your new to the hobby...I would try contacting some of the French dealers/collectors. There are many reputable ones and you will know what your getting in person. Many of us on here have known these dealer/ collectors for many years with excellent results. Some can provide you with great advice and know your local market very well.
Naturally, one that comes to mind is "La Phonogalerie" in Paris. Just going to see the museum is worth it.

Where do you live? I think you could find some options at the Rüdesheim show, twice a year in Germany if that's not too far for you to travel? What phonograph would the horn be used on? A smaller one or a reproduction might be less expensive options, depending on your wants and maximum price.

It’s near from Frankfurt am Main. I’am leaving on 3 ½ hours (x 2) from Rüdersheim (in Colmar, Alsace, France).

Alas, I am unable to drive my car and am unable to walk long distances.

A seller of one this eBay horn’s give me a quote for 59.80 $ for the shipment by USPS Priority Mail International. The total price of a Morning glory Horn (without hand painted flowers) plus the shipment is less than $ 240 (including the import taxes). At that price, I think it is not possible to find the same one in France, on the same rate, because the French collectors themselves have paid a high price in the USA.

Please, give a look at the answer to Valecnik above.

I know a few local collectors, but to my knowledge none of them sells hand-painted Mornig Glory Horns. Even Jalal Aro does not offer in the sale. I phoned him in person a few weeks ago.

Moreover, as I daily monitors the ads on eBay.fr and other french shopping sites, I'm sure of never having seen a Mornig Glory Horn (hand painted or not) the last 12 months ....

Do you have other suggestions or proposals?

My advice would be to wait until you find exactly what you want at a price you can afford. Neither one of the two horns you referenced are anything worth paying that amount of shipping for...

Hello Patrick,

I don't believe that such a horn can be shipped fron the US to France for $59.80; I'm pretty sure that it would cost a lot more as it will exceed by far the size limits.

On the other hand, could you indicate on which phonograph you want to use this horn? Bear in mind that you will also need a complete crane and probably an adapter to connect the reproducer.
