Has anyone else had a problem with their B24 horn falling out of the elbow? The "nub" that sticks out on the horn isn't the typical rivet like one. I'd like to display it but the horn keeps falling out and I'm risking damage the B24.

Has this happened to anyone else and what fixes have worked. Here's a couple pictures so you can see what I mean. Thanks for all your help.

To my eyes, it looks like the rivet has been dented down into the brass.
You might try carefully pushing it up from underneath, (inside the horn end).
Also your elbow slot looks a little deformed, try carefully using a flat screw driver, to bend down the area where the slot contacts the rivet.

Those horns should have a brass headed bolt, I believe to help hold them in place. At least mine does. Unfortunately I don't have any pics I can show you and I don't have access to the horn now but perhaps someone else who has one can comment.

Here is an image or two of my 24B. It has a brass bushing and pin. From my experience in working on metal Victor horns - I am fairly certain the rivet is always placed on the seam of the collar as it is on my horn. Also as Zewbie pointed out the rivet/bushing assembly is recessed and not on the seam. Could be that is why they put them on the seam for added strength? Mike I would be curious to know if you have an abandoned hole located on the seam the collar. Also check the measurement of 1" edge to center of the rivet. If necessary I can replace rivets on Victor metal horns, we can talk about it off line if you like. John

OK here's an update.

Bob, the rivet is flush inside and not pushed in.

John, the rivet is 1" from the tip to the bottom of the rivet. I believe that's close to the one in your picture but here's the odd part. It doesn't have a seam and looks original. Could some have no seam where others had?

Some had seamed ends, some had spun ends.
Both are correct, just made by different manufacturers.

In my experience, having previously owned both types, I found the spun end horn to be stronger in holding up the heavy brass 24B horn. The seamed end 24B horns tend to crimp up on the end under the weight of the horn.

The extra screw hole may have been from someone possibly using a screw to hold the elbow on ???
