 I am trying to find a cabinet to make a Home under Glass. If you guys remember about a year ago, there was one in an antique shop in Concord, NC. I called the owner and he said he would have them mark it sold, but someone local read my post and bee lined it to the antique shop and bought it before it got marked as sold. So, never mention something until it is in your hands. Can anyone help?

For what it's worth, the record cabinet has different decoration than the under-glass cabinet. So while it's possible to convert a record cabinet it will always be recognizable as such.

If you go that route you'll need a special H&S crank, as well as an adapter piece that mounts to the Edison shaft. I can't help with the adapter but I do have a crank available.

Rene,
Do you have a picture of one? Here is what I found, and would be happy to have one like these. The one on the bottom is like the one bought from under from me.

funny thing is, I too mentioned on the forum that a consignment shop in Greensboro was getting in a steady supply of decent machines. I had bought several and they contact me as soon as they come in . they said all of a sudden. they had people blowing up the phone looking for horn phonograph and they left their names and numbers, which were shared with me. all from Charlotte area

The one with the Home is a normal record cabinet. The other has slightly different decoration at the top front than mine but you can see it's very much different from the record cabinet decoration. The glass cover is odd -- extra high for no reason I can fathom.

Here's mine, along with an original catalog image.

Rene - the extra high glass is normal for Triumph and Concert H&S cabinets I believe. The one shown above is a Triumph version.

Thanks for all the help guys. I really do appreciate it.

csrisg, you know it is the SPMAC people. I know for a fact who screwed me. They said the phone started ringing off the hook as soon as it was posted on the Internet?
I have found one if I can get the money together. I am never surprised what some people will do if they want something.

Of course everyone is free to do what they want with what they own but if you take a cabinet that never housed a Home Phono under glass and cut it open to house a Home mechanism it creates confusion for future purchasers/collectors imho. :monkey:
