Anyone have any experience at replacing the tube part of the transmission rod? I would like to know before I tare into this any further, how the solid metal part at the end of the transmission rod that meets the cone (aka diaphragm) is held in place. Soldered or pressed in place? I purchased a replacement 3/16" brass tube that matches the original. This extremely nice Model H had a bad cone and a very bad sound. The sound was low and buzzy. I felt is was caused by more than the ripped cone and suspected the transmission rod, which was found to be covered with rust spots with one going nearly all the way around the tube to cause it to bend and it will break soon. The original was pressed IN A DIE. Without the die soldering would be the best bet. Silver solder, and a Jeweler's torch, using Mapp Gas and Oxygen will be necessary to do a first-rate job. The wort part is the connection to the stylus bar plate. That was also press fitted and penned. It think that the best thisn will be to clean the old brass out of the slot and again pinch the endo f the tube and silver sloder it in to place. either that or take another assembly from your parts bin. Or my parts bin.
